INLAND EMPIRE, CA – On March 15, the Inland Empire Utilities Agency (IEUA/Agency) was recognized by the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Santa Ana River Basin Section (SARBS) at their Annual Awards Banquet. The Agency was celebrated as a winner in multiple categories highlighting the importance of public awareness in wastewater treatment, public health, and the environment and staff’s innovative solutions to support regional operations.
“The SARBS Awards Banquet is an annual celebration of our industry’s achievements and a tribute to those individuals, agencies, programs, and projects that have demonstrated exceptional dedication within the water and wastewater industry,” stated IEUA Board President Marco Tule. “I am consistently impressed with staff’s dedication to serving our community with education, innovation, and efficiency at the forefront of all projects and programs. Reliable and effective wastewater collection and treatment is essential to protect public health and supports local water supply reliability. Our team at IEUA is committed to maintaining the highest levels of certification and is always seeking to find new and innovative ways that enhance the services we provide to our community of 935,000 residents.”
CWEA is committed to empowering, educating, and connecting water professionals to protect public health and the environment. SARBS, a local section of CWEA, provides convenient and accessible opportunities for fellow wastewater professionals to engage on a local level through meetings and trainings. During the Awards Banquet, SARBS recognized IEUA with the following awards:
Supervisor of the Year – Silver Award was presented to Collection System Supervisor Edward Makowski. The award recognizes individuals for successful mentoring of team members, professional development, and effective communication.
Collection System Person of the Year – Silver Award was presented to Collection System Operator III Adolfo Zavala. The award recognizes an individual for their innovation and excellence in collection systems maintenance.
Community Engagement & Outreach Project of the Year (Large) – Gold Award was presented on behalf of the Agency’s Be Sewer Smart campaign. The award recognizes significant achievements in promoting awareness and understanding of water quality issues. Awards are given in three categories: small, medium, and large.
